Here's something I have picked up from a book called Planet Dog.

    1. If I like it, it's mine.

    2. If I saw it first, it's mine.

    3. If it's on my mouth, it's mine.

    4. If I can take it from you, it's mine,

    5. If I had it a little while ago, it's mine.

There are 5 more numbers in the sequel but the last one was what made these dog rules quite smarty pants, "If it's broken, it's yours."

Although I doubt number 10 still holds true. I think even though it's broken, it's still theirs.

I saw this same type of thing for toddlers. It is pretty hilarious and so true. Dogs and kids both have a fuuny way with their possessions.

I regret not posting the rest of the It's Mine list. I'll be posting it now since it does sound a little general. Your comment totally makes sense. So here they are.

    6. If it's mine, it must never appear to be yours in any way.

    7. If I'm chewing something up, all the pieces are mine.

    8. If it just looks like mine, it's mine.

    9. If you are playing with something and you put it own, it automatically becomes mine.

    10. If it broken, it's yours.

Here are three more I just made up.

    11. If I rub on it, roll on it or lie on it, it's mine.

    12. Doesn't mean if you can't smell my scent on it, it's yours. It STILL is MINE.

    13. If it's edible and safe for me to eat, it's mine!

In short, everything that is yours, master, is mine. – Dog

Old Yeller (I read the book and it brought me to tears), even though his master don’t own the food, takes it like it’s his that’s why at first Fred called him the thieving dog. :D

    14. Even if it's not edible, it still is mine.

As for Old Yeller, it made me think long and hard about whether homo sapiens are really fit to rule the earth.

Agreed. For the simple reason that the dog thinks that it owns the owner and, henceforth, whatever the owner owns automatically belongs to the dog.

Haha, I agree too. Homer has a few broken toys and he would never - never - let me take them. He also gets all old pillows, blankets, bottles, shoes, basically everything that we don't use anymore. So it should be: "If it's broken or dirty, it's mine!":p
