Bobbi is a little beggar & she can hear a potato chip bag open from down the hall or any plastic wrap for food?

So here's a few steps I go through to try & open a snack bag but so that Bobbi not hear it!

In the kitchen, with her in another room, I get a bag of chips down, then turn on the garbage disposer to try & drown out the sound of the bag opening & me chewing!

Then earlier this evening, I wanted to eat some and yummies my mom had made for the holidays, so rather than try & disguise the sound, I sat down with the snack mix and, and also armed with baby carrots! So my strategy was to offer her a baby carrot as she doesn't like them, then hold a carrot in my hand & pretend to eat it, when in fact I was eating the snack mix!

She jumped on the sofa but she had her eyes peeled on me the entire time I was there eating "carrots" !

    Lol!!

I don't really do this much with the dog. I do with my cat, though. She goes nuts when I use the can opener, even though it's nothing she can have or would even want. I can use it on a can of tomatoes or green beans and she's going to flip. So sometimes, I'll even use a manual can opener and step outside to start opening one (it's the initial 'pop' that gets her, even with a handheld opener).

Ahhh Jessi, so you do know of which I speak! Stepping outside with a manual can opener - too funny & too close to home too! I did did similar things when Smokee was with me - manual opener all the way, but even then, sometimes it was not enough! What we do for our pets!

    Thanks Jess :)

Lol, this is cute:p . But it wouldn't work with Homer. I don't know how, but no matter what I do, he always knows what I'm eating. And he always wants it! If I eat something he doesn't like, he still wants me to share it with him. He takes it, try to eat it - and then he spits it:eek:

Lol! I know that feeling, too. I learned long ago that it was the only way to get our cat to stop begging. I knew she wouldn't eat various things but if she kept insisting, I would let her try a bite. She would immediately spit it out and then look at me with disgust as though I should have told her no anyway, lol.

I can only gather you are a bit of a softy Sweetbeast.

Mishka watches me intently while I'm munching on my dinner.
This is because if I'm eating snacks, I've included her with a tidbit.

My wife who has never done this is left alone at dinner though she the one to feed Mishka after we have eaten.

Lol, does she spit it out on your favourite carpet too? My Homer always takes whet I'm giving him and runs to the carpet, where he either swallows it or spits it if he doesn't like it:p

LOL great strategy. I can't say I have tried this yet, but I will definitely give it a try. I hope it works since my dog always wants my snacks.
