Do you hang a Christmas stocking up for your pooch?

Yep! It gets filled with toys and treats just like the kids ( yes, I still fill stockings up for my grown children). The boys as well as the other pets have their very own stocking, hung in a special place every year. I even take them for pictures with Santa. Every year they also get a present to open up, which can be a spectacle to watch. It's usually a new bed, I try to replace them every year and Christmas is a good time to do it!

We do! All our animals have had stockings up. They tend to just get some special treats in there and sometimes a new toy. The cats get soft food, which they don't ever get otherwise, so they're always excited. The dog gets a new squeaker toy of some sort, which he loves, and some of his favorite treats like Greenies or Pupperonis.

Yes! We hang up Christmas stockings for our puppy. Sometimes I fill it with special treats and toys I get at the store. Other times, when I run out of money or time, I will just fill it up with dog food. One Christmas, my dog ripped a hole in the bottom of her stocking, because she smelled the food through it! Oops! :)

We used to do that when we were young (me, my cousins and siblings). We never fail to find moneys and candies in it on Christmas morning. We’d hear a faint “Ho-Ho-Ho” in the middle of the night when Santa chose to put something on it (we’d be awaken by it in our deep slumber but still fail to catch Santa. As we aged, we realized Santa is grampa. Haha!).

Our Santa is long dead but our memories with him every Christmas lives on and we meant to pass it to our children.

“Ber” month is fast approaching. Here in our country, once the “ber” month approaches, we can smell the yuletide season. Hmmm. :D

Golly. Poor old Mishka is missing out on some fun. Since our kids left home we don't do anything for Christmas.
What is "Ber" month King Browny?

I don't give them a stocking but I have given them Christmas gifts. Usually some dog treats like milk bones. So I find nothing wrong with giving them a Christmas stocking. I guess the reason I don't necessarily do this is because we're not really into Christmas stockings in my house, just the presents under the tree so our dogs are usually a part of this.

We did, but mainly just for decoration. We wrapped all their toys and treats up because they liked to rip off the wrapping paper. Sometimes it seemed like they had more fun tearing off the paper than playing with the toys themselves.

We're not Christmas people, really. It's not a religious thing, (I'm an atheist) it's just we both think Christmas is a load of old commercialised twaddle. I think the only thing I like about that time of year, is I can get hold of foods I wouldn't be able to get the rest of the year, and so I stockpile. However, if I were to create a stocking or the like for my dogs, it would contain a lot of homemade treats, as I know a lot of store bought ones can be really bad, and one of mine has very iffy skin. I also know that cheaper ones can actually be toxic to dogs, so maybe my post here could be taken as a lighthearted suggestion for people to make sure they know what they're giving their dogs. I'm actually going to be stockpiling pumpkin for my freezer, so I can make pumpkin treats for my dogs, as they're good for upset tummies, and aid digestion.

In my country we don't hang up stockings, we always hide Christmas gifts under the Christmas tree. And yes, there is always something for my Homer too:D

When my dogs were still alive we'd have gifts for them underneath the tree each year from each member of the family but we wouldn't have stockings for them. In fact growing up I was the only one who had a Christmas stocking as they aren't or weren't as popular here in New Zealand. When I adopt another dog once I settle down after travelling the world I will be sure to buy a special Christmas stocking for my new dog.

I haven't hung up a Christmas stocking for my dog in the past because last Christmas I still thought of myself as his guardian and didn't think I would be permanently keeping him. His original owner's Alzheimer's is getting worse so I am keeping him ,as no one else in the family wants him.
So this year I am planning to include Stefano the rat terrier in Christmas and giving him his own stocking.

We do not hang Christmas stockings as it was not a popular tradition here. And so we, together with our dog does not have such stocking. :p

I have before, but I mainly just get Christmas gifts which mainly consists of balls, tug ropes or doggie snacks. Since Christmas only comes around once a year, I usually get a pack and take one toy from the pack, even if it looks like the old one. Mine usually don't know the difference because the old one gets so torn, it's time for a new toy after about a couple months anyway.

The doggie snacks are a plus to each gift. I just have to be careful not to let Bailey mess with the Christmas stockings.

This is my first time having a dog so I'm not sure what to get him. He usually gets cold and shakes in the winter because he's a small dog without a lot of extra body fat, so I might get him a warm sweater and some dog treats.

My family doesn't celebrate Christmas and to be honest we have never thought about inciting our dog to do so, lol. But it sounds like a really lovely tradition and I'd definitely do it if I was married to someone who actually celebrates this holiday. I think it's nice to give gifts to our pets as well, because after all they are also part of our family as well :)

Giving Homer gifts is one of my favorite things about Christmas. It's so much fun! He can smell that there is something for him under a Christmas tree, so he always tries to open all presents, haha. When he finally gets his gift, he wags his tail like crazy and looks so happy!:D

What kind of things do you like to give to your Homer on Christmas? Do you always wrap the gifts you give him? I'm thinking that wrapping the gifts for our dogs would be a bit unnecessary, so I'm not sure w would actually do it, but we might for the tradition's sake ;) Isn't like the dog will know what's in there anyway ;)

Sometimes I do but other years I don't bother. They do get their treats on Christmas morning, mainly catnip for the kitties and a huge rawhide bone for the dog. They get treats year round anyway, its just another day for them!

I always wrap gifts for him, because it's fun:) Also, if I didn't wrap them, he would steal them and eat them before Christmas dinner:p
Usually, I give him dog toys or dog treats. It's nothing special, but it makes him very happy:)

That's nice :) I bet that makes him feel truly loved and wanted, sometimes are the small details the ones that truly matter. It's also a nice gesture, because by buying him something (no matter how cheap it is) you are showing him you care.
