I read a cute story this morning. It was about a dog who had a special toy, a duck. This was his favorite toy.

The family owned 3 dogs all the same breed. When the other two died, the dog with the duck began doing something different. He would take his duck, put it on the bed, then, carefully cover it with the end of the blanket. He would lay next to it and they'd nap together. The person who wrote the article said the dog did not exhibit this behavior while the other two dogs were alive.

I found this interesting. Perhaps it was a way to deal with grief or the fact that the two other dogs were missing.

I don't think I've ever had a dog shows these signs towards toys. Though, I remember that my brother's previous dog walked around with a security blanket like Linus in the Peanuts comic strip.

Have you ever had a dog do something similar to this?

My adorable dog doesn't really care about his toys as long as we are not interested in them. When a member of my family dares to touch his toys, Homer runs immediately and bites. After this, he carries his toy with him for a while until he forgets that somebody tried to take it. What he protects the most aggressive, are his green blankets, he loves them:p .

Oh yes! He absolutely loves his toys. I doesn't cover them with blankets, but he does go put them in his bed and will sleep with them. Sometimes he'll carry one around with him all day and ask to take them outside, but he's not allowed, so then he'll do the prance of deciding of leaving the toy or staying inside instead, lol.

That's a picture of him snuggling with his new Christmas hedgehog. He took it with him all day long. <3

Aww this is sweet. I couldn't say that my dog has ever snuggled with anything but you can guarantee that what ever it is you've got in your hand or that whatever you are playing with is what she wants at that exact moment in time and not a minute later!
