This story is both at the same time inspiring and sad! It's amazing that poor dog survived that!!! That dog must have such a huge will to live!!!
On Tuesday, Pullman's Washington State University released news about an amazing young dog who has managed to thwart death. The one-year-old dog named Theia, was a stray in Moses Lake not long ago...she would make her way through town, receiving handouts from kind people and the occasional pat on the head. Things turned upside down for Theia when she was hit by a car in February, and someone, presumably trying to be kind, tried to "put her out of her misery," by hitting her in the head with a hammer. After Theia was "killed" she was buried in a field. Against all odds...despite being hit by a car and bashed in the head, Theia managed to dig out of her makeshift grave and several days later, she showed up, injured, but alive, at someone's farm. Today, Theia is receiving care from the Washington State University Veterinary Teaching Hospital. Thanks to a good Samaritan fund, a portion of her care is being covered. A GoFundMe fundraiser has also been started to help cover the remaining veterinary costs from Theia's multiple injuries. Theia now has a guardian to watch over her...Sara Mellado has taken the downtrodden pup into her home; she commented on the cruel "euthanasia" attempt which someone performed on the young dog:
http://www.examiner.com/article/dog-struck-by-a-car-hit-the-head-with-a-hammer-buried-and-still-is-alive
