Does your dog have a special way of asking you to play with him? Homer does. Every time when he wants me to play with him, he throws a toy down the stairs. The stairs are near the room where I usually spend time, so he knows that I'll hear it. As you can guess, I hear cones rolling down many times a day:p . How about your dogs? What do they do when they need some entertainment and they want you to know about it?

That's cute, Claudine! I guess he knows how to get your attention.

Misha has a couple of ways to get my attention to play. She does three different things. First, she throws a toy from her pile, and then, she stares at me. It's like she is taunting me.

Another method is to run up to me and start hitting me on the foot. I swear, she thinks she is a cat.

The third method is the best, though. She walks over to me slowly. Then, she does a quick turn, sticks her butt up toward me, with her head on the ground. All the while, she is looking back at me with her butt facing me. We call it "giving the butt".

It's the funniest thing I've ever seen. I've never seen another dog do this. She will stay like that until I move. Once I was not on the couch, but looking into the living room and I saw her give the butt to my empty seat. :p

When Sherlock wants attention to play, he comes up and puts a paw on our leg or arm. He'll then shove gently and make this low wookie noise, which then increases to a very silly sounding grumble, which actually sounds like he's trying to form words. Sometimes we pretend to ignore him, because he gets sillier and sillier, and more insistent. It's very funny to watch. It's basically his way of asking for someone to play with him, and if we don't give in easily, he will try and lick us into doing it.

They would bring a toy up to us then start stomping their back legs repeatedly. Either that, or sometimes they would fake us out and come running into the room, stop and bark, then take off running. This was the same thing they would do to alert us something was wrong (something burning on the stove, a stranger is approaching the house, etc.). But occasionally they would just do this when they wanted us to play.

My dogs will climb all over me. If I try to ignore it, they just keep climbing all over me until they get me to play with them. It makes getting homework done a challenge.
