Have you seen greyhounds race? Would you allow them to continue racing if you knew that Greyhound racing is responsible for an approximated 20,000 Greyhound deaths each year?

Did you know that there are greyhound rescue groups and adoption shelters for them because even the ones that have won races aren't exactly treated like kings and queens upon retirement.

Did you know that there are cases of grave Greyhound abuse where some were documented to have been shot, starved, electrocuted or sold for research?

Did you know that even when dog track races have regulated rules, not a lot of them focus on breeding, caring and training these greyhounds?

To be honest, I had no idea about it:eek: . I simply have no words, it's so awful! I can't stand animal abuse, I believe that only a monster is able to hurt a dog:mad: . If so many owners are so cruel and irresponsible, in my opinion Greyhound racing should be banned.

I had heard about Greyhounds racing and that a lot of them once they are retired by their race trainers often end up in pounds.. I had no idea that the number is that large though. I thought surely it would be at most a couple of hundreds. but 20,000 in just a year is staggering.

I just watched a portion of Greyhounds racing through news on TV but knew less about it. If there are lots of abuses on such racing, it should be banned.

Ideally speaking, that would be great. However, I think when it comes to Greyhound racing, states should at least have strict rules on caring for these dogs pre and post racing.

Do you remember the Whistler case where 100 huskies were inhumanely killed by the owner because he was told to cut costs? They were shot, knifed and killed execution style. That's because there aren't any strict rules or heavy punishments against improper care for animals utilized/employed in businesses. I think states in America should start with that.

Oh my, I haven't heard about these poor Huskies before, no one talked about it in my country:( . Why some people are so extremely cruel - more cruel than any animals? I feel that hurting a dog is unforgivable. And yes, I agree, they should at least set strict rules, maybe it would help.
