I own large breed dogs and we have been looking into health testing. The main concern of course is hips and heart, most large breeds have issues with their hips down the road. My only problem with this is most testing can't be done until the dog is 2. You can have preliminary testing done, which is just a set of x-rays at certain ages to see how the hips and joints grow and form but I feel as if there should be something that is more definitive earlier on. My dogs get their hearts checked, regular vet exams, shots and de-worming so I feel that along with a happy life I am doing what I feel is needed for my dogs. I guess I just wish I could get this testing done sooner. Has anyone ever had deeper testing done on their dogs besides the usual test the vets run?
