I am sure you have experienced this. You walk into a room and there is a million pieces of something on the ground. Your best loved pup has just torn up something--and usually something you wanted!

Yesterday, I went into my bedroom only to find many fluffy little white pieces of something on the ground. Closer inspection showed it to be the dryer sheet I couldn't find the day before when I washed and dried my bedding.

I pieced it all back together to see how much she might have swallowed. It doesn't look like she got much if any. I think she just enjoyed the whole act of tearing it apart.

Name something your dog has shredded to pieces. Was it something you valued or something to throw away like my dryer sheet?

My dogs have demolished many of my personal belongings. However the one destruction event I remember best involved Benjamas, my Poodle. She's very agile and can climb book shelves. One night, after I had fallen asleep, she climbed up the closet via the side table and found my glasses which I had purposely kept at the top of the closet to keep it out of her reach. So the next morning I had to grope my way, more or less, to the optician to get a new pair of glasses.

Ever since my Homer was a puppy, he has always loved tearing apart tissues. When he finds one, the most important thing in the world for him is to destroy it as fast as possible:p Tissues are not valuable so I let him do this - if I try to take it away from him he starts swallowing pieces of it and I don't want him to get sick, so I just ignore him. If nobody is bothering him, he just spits it.

Our terrier would take out entire rolls of toilet paper. She would pull the whole thing on the floor then shred it all up. I was kind of surprised when I caught her doing that because I thought that was something mainly cats did.

Our neighbor had a pretty big dog, and one day they must have been moving some furniture because they had a couch sitting out in their driveway. I noticed their dog was laying on it as I drove by. When I came home from the store I passed by their house again and noticed the dog still sitting there, only there was shredded foam all over the driveway. I don't think they realized what he had done while they were busy working on stuff in the house, lol.

I understand completely, I have to be careful when I put garbage in the trash can outside to make sure that I secure the lid properly. If I don't Buddy will get into it and get into the bag. Next thing we know there is garbage all over our yard that we have to pick up.

The only thing I can remember Mishka having made a mess of was a prayer rug a Sufi friend gave us who was moving away. It was a beautifully woven rug I'm sure was quite expensive, soft and lovely to look at. We decided to put it upstairs on the floor so it would not get the foot traffic downstairs.
Mishka took a liking to the tassel ends and chewed them. We still have the rug but it has been rolled up and stored away now for quite some time. Maybe it's time to consider getting it repaired and put it down on the floor again. Mishka is no longer a pup and is a sensible middle aged dog.

Claudine, Misha likes tissue, too. Sometimes she sneaks up on my mom and takes them from her jacket pocket. She is too clever for her own good!

I remember once my sister's dog was staying with me. She was about 2 years old. I had a Kleenex box on the floor by my bed. I came into the room and there were clumps of Kleenex everywhere. I guess she had great fun pulling them out of the box. She looked at me gleefully as if to say "Hey, look what I did!"

Argon, I can see how those tassels would be enticing to a puppy. You hit them with your paw and they flap around.

Our recent dog hobby when left alone in a room is to destroy plastics, card boards and especially papers. It seems to be his way of telling us that he does not want to be alone. :p
Good thing that those are not that important and good thing that he seems to be more behaved these past months.

So cute:p I wouldn't dare to leave a Kleenex box on the floor, I know Homer too well - he would shred everything into billion of pieces and he wouldn't look gleefully afterwards - he would look like he was ready for a fight: every time when he does something like this, he doesn't want me to clean:p

My dogs LOVE tearing things apart. Luckily, they tend not to swallow pieces. They tear their toys apart, and when they were younger they'd tear up newspapers, shoes, and anything within their reach. We had to learn to put things up where they can't reach.
The little dog also used to tear up the carpet and chew on the walls. Luckily she stopped that now.

Claudine, Sierra was a grown up by then. Once she was passed 3 years old, I never had to worry about anything except when food was around--or socks. She seemed get a special thrill out of running off with someone's socks. I have my Kleenex box on my bed headboard (which is a shelf). Misha can stand up on my pillows and get it. So far, she hasn't tried. Maybe it is too easy...no challenge.

We almost had one of these emergency clinic visits Sunday night. My Mom wears these foam toe things for comfort. She took off her shoe, one fell to the ground, and sure enough Misha snatched it up. By the time I got there, she swallowed.

They are foam, so they wouldn't poke or tear. However, it was a good 2-3 inches long when stretched out. It could cause an obstruction. So, we waited for any signs of trouble. She was doing her business normally and and seemed fine on Monday. Then, last night it came out. I found it in a pile. She was so happy after that. And, so was I! She was perfectly fine today. I am relieved!
