I believe I have mentioned it earlier... Chooey's curiosity with Fireworks is killing me! First, I had to deal with seeing her escort who ever lights it up. She would follow them and then ran beside them once they head for cover.

But then, she becomes more bold and approaches the fireworks out of curiosity while it's on fire.In our 12 o'clock video of the New Year celebration I recently watched, I saw her going close to the fireworks and us calling her to come back. Eventually, I saw myself approaching her and carrying her away from it.

Have you ever experienced dealing with a curious dog who doesn't understand the word safety?

Haopee, I am surprised to see a dog so interested in fireworks. One would think the sound or the smell would make them leery of them.

I'm not sure that I've ever had a dog that didn't recognize danger in this way. Sierra was the most bold, but I don't think that curious. I remember in dog training class the teacher set up a test. She put a motorized toy train in the middle of the floor. We were supposed to walk our dog by it without the dog reacting. Most of the dogs refused to even walk passed the train. Sierra ran right up to it and sniffed it. She was not scared at all. Misha is afraid of almost everything, so I don't think she'd even get near fireworks.

That must be some concern for you. It is a surprise Chooey has interest in something that makes so much noise. You may need to keep him away from such events in future for his safety. When you say he escorts the event he must think it's important to do so. I would hate to think Chooey would eventually pick one up.

Chooey is a very unique dog, I thought all dogs are scared of the noise. It's good you are careful:)
My Homer isn't scared of heights. He likes to sit at the top of the stairs and look down. He also climbs on the furniture - he jumps on a chair, then on a table - and if something stands nearby, he will jump on it too:eek:

I am among those who find it interesting that a dog is actually curious about fireworks. My dogs hate fireworks and are afraid of them. Which of course is due to the loud noises that occur when fireworks are set off.. So hearing about a dog who loves them is somewhat surprising for me. I thought most dogs were scared of them because of the loud noise. I'm glad you are being careful with your dog when they are around fireworks, because these things aren't only loud they can be dangerous as well.
