My dog is no longer living with my boyfriend and I due to the strict policy at our new apartment complex but we plan to move, and purchase a new dog. The dog that he and I once owned was a very wild dog; she had a big personality, and she was always happy. When ever the both of us would come home from an outing, she would get so excited to see us that she would jump on us several times, then run around the apartment at full speed; she would do this for a good five minutes. Do you guys have dogs like this? What kind of personality does your dog have?

Our dogs are Bernese Mt dogs and their personality is slow and mellow.
They talk a lot to us and love to cuddle. They weigh about 120 pounds so that means you get a lot of dog on you when they want to cuddle!
They are happy dogs who love all people and kids. And they love our other lets as well.
Big mellow love bugs. Sorry you had to part with your dog, how sad. We own our home so they are with us forever : )

Firstly it's good that you can share with us here in your difficult time of having to part with your dog.

Mishka hides under the house when we first come home and waits to see who it is. Then she will come over and greet both of us sniffing at our legs/trousers and shoes to see where we've been.
The funny part is when we're home and someone comes she so tough she barks and goes and see who it is.
Her personality is generally timid and she enjoys being with company and slots in as one of the pack.

I own a Yorkie. He is very lordly and proud, he probably thinks he is a big and strong dog...for sure he tries to convince us he is:p . He is also quite moody and rather lazy. But if he wants, he acts like the loveliest dog in the entire world:D

Argon_0 I am glad you think so. It is quite difficult to think about let alone discuss but I thought maybe someone else went through the same thing; if they can see that I have made peace with it then perhaps it'll help ease their pain. I think it is so cute how dogs have different personalities--I love it. I can't wait to purchase another dog to see what kind of personality he or she has. Although I grew weary of having a wild dog, I don't think that I could tolerate a dog that was quite and to themselves. I've become acclimated to being around a dog like my previous (wild) dog that it makes me want another just like her. Thanks for your responses guys! :)

Our dog gets excited too a lot every time we come home as well as it was his feeding time already. Our dog also gets too noisy seeing other dogs outside.

My dog is energetic and playful. He is very curious and adventurous. I wouldn't say he is wild, but he is easily excited and wants to play rough. I like his personality very much. :)

Our youngest lab and our spaniel/terrier mix are both very energetic, playful dogs! Our oldest lab and our chihuahua mix, however, and are both more mellow and laid back. It's kind of strange, though, as they've all got slightly different personalities, but all get along exceedingly well.

I have a chow and they are stubborn if you let them have their way as puppies. You really do have to show them you are the alpha dog and be consistent about correcting their behavior otherwise they'll rule your household. I'm thankful that when we got our chow my kids were on vacation so everyone pitched in training her. These days as long as we are able to walk her twice a day she’s very calm and you’d usually find her near a member of the family laying on the carpet in the living room.

    I'll split this into two:

My dog Peanut believes she's a grown woman, and sometimes ignores what we say to her. Otherwise, she's a very cowardly dog. She's afraid of the broom, the vaccuum, the word "bath" "dirty" and "cage". She scurries away whenever we use those words. We keep her chained out on the front deck during the day, and she'll bark at any person that walks by, she doesn't discriminate. HOWEVER, she is typically racist towards white men due to a bad experience with a Fed-Ex truck driver. He used to abuse her when we weren't home because she barked at him a lot.

My second dog, Paloma, is a very feminine dog. She can jump really high. She's only two, so she's very playful. Squeaky toys are her favorite. She looooves to annoy Peanut, i.e. nipping at her tail, tapping her back, etc. She also loves to rip the stuffing out of toys. She's very needy though.
