Will you decorate for the holiday season?

This is mostly for those celebrating Christmas, but could apply to anyone who decorates for a celebration. We will be bringing out all the decorations for the holidays next week. Last year, I was very worried that my little trouble maker would get into everything. We always had to put everything up (including the tree) because of Sierra. When she was a pup she would get into everything. Then, when she got bigger her tail became a dangerous weapon for fragile decorations and ornaments. I had our tree on a table until she died. It was much safer that way.

I was pleasantly surprised to find that Misha was only mildly interested in the decorations. She was afraid of a few of the animated ones which probably helped. She was intrigued by the tree. She kept trying to get behind it. Once we blocked it off with presents, she wasn't able to get to anything.

She was very funny. She had three presents under the tree and she knew which ones were hers. She would sniff them every day. A couple of times I found her begging by her presents. She never tried to get them, though she did chew corners of the paper of a couple of other people's presents.

Will you put up a tree? Will you decorate? Or, is it too much hassle with a dog around?

    Yep, we do!

And actually, our dog couldn't care less for the most part. It's the cats that give us way more issues. Buddy simply ignores them or occasionally trips over one so might get annoyed by that. I don't recall him ever paying much attention otherwise.

Yes, I do decorate for the holidays. But, this means its time to go on Christmas tree watch. I know what time Buddy and Oso usually come into the house every day, so I have to make sure to be on hand, to ensure they don't get anywhere near the tree. They have tried on numerous times each year, but my sister and I always manage to stop them.

Though our family was never big on the whole event we did some Christmassy things.
I kind of miss this decoration time of year. The kids have grown up and left home and it was always fun to see them make decorations and find a potted tree to call a Christmas tree. We still have the last one used on our front verandah. An olive tree that is currently fruiting.
Mishka was never a problem from what I can recall.
Maybe I should buy some tinsel tomorrow for old times sake. Now that'll surprise my wife.:D

I don't celebrate Christmas but my family does so we have a tree and all. Homer was very interested in decorations when he was a puppy. He wanted to play with it - probably because it was all so new to him and so shiny. Once, he started to pull one of the branches of the tree. It sounds funny but it was very dangerous because it could fall on him. Fortunately my mother noticed it on time and stopped him.

Last year was my pups first Christmas, and I have to say that he was pretty good. Aside from the occasional attempt to jump at the tree or to eat the decorations, it's been okay :p I don't think we're going to be celebrating this year, due to renovations, but I'm sure that my parents will be and therefore my pup will need to have to deal with decorations all over again but only for a few hours. I don't think that it's a problem though because I live with my boyfriend and neither he or I celebrate Christmas, so our pup only needs to learn how to behave if we're going to his parent's house or mine.

We do. This will be my little dog's first christmas with a tree with us, and thus far she's doing well. There's no ornaments on the bottom branches within her reach (they DO look like toys after all), and she hasn't been attacking the stockings like we thought she might. We did spray the tree with that repellent they use to make dogs not pee on it though, and that worked.

My sister has a cat as well. The cat is far more interested in the tree. Mostly trying to bat ornaments or drink the water out of the stand (foil around the top wards this off). Their biggest problem is when the dog decides to chase the cat around the tree. Nope, can't do that!

We'll get our stuff out this week. Then, I will see how many manners Misha has. ;)

I usually do not decorate for the holiday season since I am not good at it. LOL
Usually, my grandmother set up the Christmas tree at the start of November and I would just put something on it if ever I could find some cute things to hand there.
